The Story

Some conversions demand complexity. This one demanded restraint.

If you love rare vintage fan lamps, Art Deco home décor, and lighting with genuine collector appeal, this 1930's LIMIT 10 inch Fan Lamp is exactly the kind of piece that instantly elevates a room. Compact in size but big in presence, it combines ornate pre-war design, beautifully preserved original character, and a warm triple-globe glow that makes it as much functional art as it is a statement lamp.

What makes this piece so desirable is the fan itself. The LIMIT design already had everything going for it — a wonderfully decorative cage, elegant proportions, and the kind of old-world charm that modern lighting simply cannot replicate. Even in rough condition, with heavily chipped cream paint, a rusted cage, and tired presentation, it still had undeniable class. That is exactly why it deserved to be saved.

The restoration was all about preserving that fragile beauty rather than overworking it. The body was stripped down and painstakingly cleaned while retaining as much of the original cream finish as possible. Because the paint was so brittle, I stabilised it with multiple layers of adhesion promoter and clear sealer, locking in the wear, texture, and age that give the lamp its authentic antique appeal. The cage was then carefully revived, removing the worst of the corrosion while deliberately leaving just enough soft patina to complement the aged body rather than erase its history.

To complete the conversion, I retained the original three-position switch for visual authenticity and fitted a three-way globe holder in place of the blades. The choice of T45 spiralled filament globes was crucial — their delicate form suits the cage perfectly and gives the lamp a warm, theatrical glow that feels completely in keeping with the period design. Finished with paint wax and original-style cable routing, the result is a highly collectible vintage lamp that works beautifully in Art Deco interiors, rustic home styling, industrial décor, or any space that needs a true conversation piece.

This is not just a restored fan. It is a rare, elegant, and unforgettable piece of statement lighting.

"Too ornate to scrap, too tired to stay a fan, and now far too charming to ignore."
